Will be in Palau for about a week in 2-3 days. How's the local scene there as in hanging out with locals and practicing Palauan, etc?
I'm thinking catch a cab from the airport to the Pinetree hostel and then try to find some locals to connect with and explore around cheaply before moving on to Yap. Thoughts?
I just got back from 1 week in Palau and first of all I just want to say it was awesome. I'm a budget traveler and like many people, I had a hard time getting information about traveling cheaply in Palau beforehand. Ultimately, it's not that cheap of a destination to travel but this website had a really great article that helped me travel Palau as cheaply as I could.... I probably would have gone broke if I hadn't seen it. Here's the link: http://outofyourcomfortzone.net/the-ultimate-…
Hello Thorn Tree,
Once upon a time I asked many questions from this community, and in return got a beautiful 16 month trip.
Now again I am dreaming of travel.
Do you experience about snorkeling in Palau? I would like to hear from good spots from you. The more detailed your story, the better, but no pressure. Any information is good.
I consider myself an experienced reef dweller, and would use a canoes with my partner to get any spot that is safe for such access. Also can pay for tour trips…
Does any 1 know any budget accommodation in Palau as well as Yap island ? I checked net but found all very expensive. Moreover very less info is available on internet about these two places.
Also is there any public transportation between Koror and Peleliu ? Any accommodation at Peleliu ?
I'll travel to Palau in about 3 weeks and I have a few questions for those who have been there! I searched a lot on the web and haven't found much;)!
What are the different ways to go to Long Beach? Can we go there by kayak (it seems to be a bit far from Koror)? Which would be the cheapest way?
Is it possible and safe to rent a kayak without a guide? I guess around Koror (Nikko and Risong bay) it would be possible, but how far can we go alone?
I'm a Swedish doctor trying to visit all the countries in the world within my life span. Have been to 164 this far.
Now, I plan to visit Palau 4-5 days in December (2015) and since Palau is not very well covered by guide books and rarely visited by tourists, save the diver and hard core globetrotter, I decided to try this forum to see what info I can get by.
To save transfer tiime I plan to base myself on the main Island (Babeldaob) and from there make various excursions…
we think about staying at Peleliu Island from Jan 1 to Jan 3 2016. Any experience with getting there, like how long does it take etc.? Seems like there is a accommodation called "Storyboard Beach", but last tripadvisor rating is from 05/2014.
Any suggestions (also for other areas) warmly welcome! we would like to finish our stay with 2 nice days at a beach!
Me and a friend will visit Palau during Christmas. We want to dive and snorkel 5 or more days and wonder what is better: dive cruise (staying overnight on the bost) or diving package with hotel accomondation?
All recommendations - also for overnight kayaking tours welcome!
