I am João and finally in july i am going to visit Pakistan. After reading some of the posts in the forum i am having some doubts about my trip. My plan was to do Lahore-Faisalabad-Islamabad-Chitral-Gilgit and then off to China. I would like to ask you some help/advices with this questions:
1- Without a special permit you cannot travel to Chitral by land?
2- How much does a flight Islamabad to Chitral costs? How could i book it?
3- How safe is Chitral and surrodings? Do you always have to be…
We are UK citizens planning to visit N pakistan in late August/early September 2015. We would be grateful for any comments on our proposed route below. We will be booking with a UK tour operator and travelling with a driver plus a guide. Has anyone stayed in Chilas recently please, and how did they feel about the place? We expect Chitral to be conservative too. We are aware of the position on police escorts etc. Does anyone have many comments on the probability of getting a…
My girlfriend and I are thinking about taking the Karakoram Highway (KKH) up from Abbottabad to the Hunza Valley this September or early October.
Having heard less than glowing reports about the public buses that ply the route, and wanting to have some flexibility about stops etc, I was wondering if anyone knew the costs of hiring a jeep (or similar) with driver out of Islamabad, or if anyone had any firsthand recommendations for someone they've used themselves.
Almost all my previous travels were in summer. Now I have no teaching assignment and could go any time. Initially, I thought of Africa specially its southern countries like Botswana & Zambia. But I had to abandon the idea in view of my health problem and that too in the least developed countries. So my attention turned to England. I applied for a visa. Lo and behold, the visa was refused. Two reasons were assigned: (i) My income was not sourced and (ii) the person I mentioned as a reference…
I wonder if anyone has crossed Wagah border by foot recently from Pakistan into India? How was the experience? Any public transport (or what sort of transport) available from border to Attari? What are the operating hours of immigration at border? How easy is it to change Pakistan Rupees into Indian Rupees at border? Better to change Pak Rupee into Indians in Pakistan or in India? Is Attari big enough town to find a direct public bus for Jaipur?
I'll to to Pakistan this summer and would like to do the trek that goes to Rush lake.
I know it's a 4 days trek without technical difficulties and I would be interested in doing it with a guide but the guide seems to go with a cook, a porter and all the equipment (and even a kitchen tent !). I don't want that, I can carry my backpack and do cook myself, I have all the equipment I need. Basically, I am looking for a guide, not a full staff.
I think I'll improvise, maybe to the trek…
I am going to Pakistan this July with my friend and we are stuck between doing the K2 base camp trek and the 8000 m base camps trek, seeing as the Gondogoro la is now very expensive just to cross.
After reading this trek report https://www.lonelyplanet.com/thorntree/forums/asia-indian-subcontinent/pakistan/adventure-in-pakistan-8000-m-mountains-base-camps-trip-report?page=1#post_21277645 and subsequent (all are locked) we got interested to do Grand Base Camps trek.
We are not expert hikers…
