I like to plan a trip to Afghanistan and Pakistan, considering the situation in the tribal areas are getting better will
the government open the Khyber Pass in the near future? What about the road from Kabul to Jalalabad is this road
security wide doable nowadays? Is it often restricted and for how many days or hours at a time? I heard they close
the road sometimes because of security problems is this for hours or for weeks at a time?
I will be in Lahore 8th September.
From 8th until app. 19. September I am looking for an driver with car, who can show me round.
Lahore, Islamabad, Gilgit, Hunza, Kaghan. Northern parts.
The driver should speak little English, and should be familiar with streets and regions.
It is for one person!
thanks so much
Is it compulsory to have Polio vaccination certificate to enter/exit Pakistan?
i read here :
Does anybody have experiences ?
I wanted to visit north Pakistan last summer but had to postpone it, this year I cannot go in summer but rather in september / october. Is it still possible to do some treks (Rush lake for instance) or is it usually already under the snow at that time ? Itinerary : Peshawar-> Chitral -> Gilgit (+ Skardu) -> Khunjerab pass
I came across such comment: “Bus drivers prefer to pick passengers from Sabzi Mandi Mor, a turn on IJ Principal Road near the stand, rather than come to the stand in PWBS”
Is it about buses to Gilgit as well?
And what are “package buses” ? This a special category of buses listed in NATCO time table.
If people are interested in a day by day account of our journey along the KKH my friend I was traveling with wrote a blog post for each day. The blogs called donthurrythejourney and you can find the section under the Pakistan section
Otherwise here is a summary. First I'll go over the freedom of movement we had and what the escorts were like. I'll follow up with posts about the road quality, accomadation and food.
So the provinces in Pakistan can be pretty autonomous especially when…
A question I'm stuck on while reading this useful Report of K2 Base Camp & Gondogoro La trek with regard to shoes along the way - as long as they're waterproof will they do? Or do I need something sturdy? (I'm thinking of taking crocs - lightweight, waterproof and can wear them with my socks)?
I'm off in Mid July for this trek. I'm really excited but at the same time, a little daunted as have never done a trekking trip before. I'm breaking in my boots and walking, walking, walking to prepare.
Hey guys, I have noticed that most of the travelers posting here have misinformation that you need to get paid LOI through a tour operator in order to apply Pakistani visa.
However, the truth is Any Pakistani national can send you a LOI with a copy of his national identity card. There is no compulsion of getting a LOI through a tour operator from at least two years back because I have been sending LOIs to Europeans and Americans for free since then and every single one of them got a visa…
I am planning to hire one way transportation from Lahore to Islamabad so that I can stop to see Rohtas Fort, Mangla Lake, Ramkot Fort. What else would you recommend?
And should I book this via some travel agent in advance or can I get it easily in Lahore? And what would be approx cost?
