We are planning the trek in July. Has anyone been recently - security concerns being my primary interest.
could anyone tell me of their own experience in those areas of Pakistan in relation to safety and security and any tips on how to keep ourselves (and belongings) safe?how conservative is the dress? really dont want to offend or attract trouble!
Which travel insurance would cover our trip? Most regular policies don't seem to cover adventure travel or high altitude.

Hi, I'd like to visit the Kalash people and Kalash area but I'm afraid it is dangerous for a foreigner. Do you know if it can be dangerous for me?
Thanks for some info.

Hereby I want to provide a short summary of my trip by bicycle on the KKH in the first half of May 2017, with the intention to provide some useful information to other cyclists.
When you read travel advices from western governments intended for their citizens (e.g. from the German 'Auswärtiges Amt') but also from the the Pakistani government then you read a lot of security issues, especially in the district of Indus Kohistan in KPK province. There people are told to be fanatic muslims and do not…

Hello all - sorry to re-post on this again but - several reliable sources in Pakistan tell me the road from Isb - Chitral is open to foreigners WITHOUT requiring an NOC to travel up and down; however, I'm struggling to pin down whether this is for ALL foreigners or just those on straight tourist visas. I'll be coming in over the summer and in the winter on a journalist visa to visit Chitral and the Kalash Valleys and need to ascertain what the road travel restrictions might be for me, and…

I'm planning to to take the route Ishkarwaz - Lashkargaz - Karambar Lake - Lashkargaz - Ishkarwaz. Can this be done in 4 days total while keeping a whole day for resting at Karambar? If yes…

Hi guys,
We are heading to Fairy Meadows, but we were hoping to trek from raikot bridge to Jhel or Tato, or any midpoint to FM. Are there anywhere we could sleep on the way? We have our tent and stove, so we could pitch it if there's a safe place.
Thanks for your help

Hi all,

it seems that Pakistani tourist visa application in Italy doesn't require a letter of invitation but rather "hotel confirmation to be sent via fax directly to the embassy, covering the whole period of visit".

Does anybody know how to get such a reservation? I understand that a Booking.com reservation is not enough. It needs to be sent via fax somehow. Of course the hotel reservation will need to be canceled afterwards (at least part of it) since my plan is to cancel the flights I use…
