If people are interested in a day by day account of our journey along the KKH my friend I was traveling with wrote a blog post for each day. The blogs called donthurrythejourney and you can find the section under the Pakistan section
Otherwise here is a summary. First I'll go over the freedom of movement we had and what the escorts were like. I'll follow up with posts about the road quality, accomadation and food.
So the provinces in Pakistan can be pretty autonomous especially when…
A question I'm stuck on while reading this useful Report of K2 Base Camp & Gondogoro La trek with regard to shoes along the way - as long as they're waterproof will they do? Or do I need something sturdy? (I'm thinking of taking crocs - lightweight, waterproof and can wear them with my socks)?
I'm off in Mid July for this trek. I'm really excited but at the same time, a little daunted as have never done a trekking trip before. I'm breaking in my boots and walking, walking, walking to prepare.
Hey guys, I have noticed that most of the travelers posting here have misinformation that you need to get paid LOI through a tour operator in order to apply Pakistani visa.
However, the truth is Any Pakistani national can send you a LOI with a copy of his national identity card. There is no compulsion of getting a LOI through a tour operator from at least two years back because I have been sending LOIs to Europeans and Americans for free since then and every single one of them got a visa…
I am planning to hire one way transportation from Lahore to Islamabad so that I can stop to see Rohtas Fort, Mangla Lake, Ramkot Fort. What else would you recommend?
And should I book this via some travel agent in advance or can I get it easily in Lahore? And what would be approx cost?
As an American trying to get a Pakistani tourist visa for an upcoming trekking trip in the Baltoro region, I just wanted to add my own recent experiences, in case this can help someone with their own planning.
I sent in my application, along with all the necessary documents (LOI, conventional destinations on application, etc) to the LA Consulate about 4 weeks ago. I did not hear anything back so after three weeks, I called the consulate.
BTW, whoever answers the phone there needs some serious…
I (British citizen) am travelling to Pakistan in July, and am interested in using the railways whilst I am in the country. I want to travel from Lahore to Islamabad, and was wondering how to book tickets, and if there are are any tips that anyone has about doing this.
Thinking about passing the Northen areas in August but understand that it's the peak of the moonsoon season. did anyone visit the area in August and what can you expect? Is it possibel to Catch a glimpse of blue skies or is it solely gloomy and rainy day? I guess the roads are usually a subject to lots of landslides in August due to heavy rain?
Thank you in advance fellow Travelers!
I've read enough helpfull informations here but I could not find everything I need, so I have to ask you for some suggestion.
My plan is:
Enter in Taftan and travel with escort to Lahore safety. Then I would like to try to get a Chinesse Visa in Islamabad and travel on the KKH throught Naran to Gilgit, visit areas around, and then leave Pakistan in Sost. Everything in one month. I have time.
First time I visited Embassy with all required documents, and they said me, that I need a air…
I have a british passport and have twice in the past used the wonderful visa on arrival at Sost loophole to get into Pakistan. Is this working this year? Planning a trip back in the summer and currently in China...
Any up-to-date info would be great :)
