Kuranda Veranda Restaurant and Bar
This restaurant has impeccable service and an unobstructed rainforest view. It's all enhanced by the Thai linen, jazzy tunes and the fact that the food – ranging from gusty jungle curries to delicious dips – is tasty. After Sunday's yum cha brunch ($15 per person) there's live music.

Mum’s
Closed until further notice.
No-nonsense food just like Mum used to make. That’s if you grew up in Seoul or Tokyo anyway. More than a few Japanese and Korean language students regularly co-opt Mum’s as their tasty home-away-from-home, and the sushi, sashimi and bowls of ramen noodles remain authentic.

King Po
For all the usual Sino-treats, the King will not let you down, though the décor is tacky and the muzak odd. The addition of some 'Australian' dishes (steak or fish, mostly) means there's something for even the tamest palette.
