Lonely Planet review for Mumtaz Mahal
The Mumtaz Mahal is more than just the best Indian restaurant in town, it is part of the landscape of Muscat. Perched on a hill overlooking Qurm Nature Reserve, and with an intimate atmosphere created by live sitar performances, traditional seating at low tables, and lantern-light, it is little surprise that this restaurant, specialising in Northern Indian Mughlai cuisine, is a local legend. Try the snake coffee, which the head waiter performs by setting fire to an orange peel.

Best Indian food I've ever had
Steve_in_Doha recommends this,
I'm not sure why this place has gotten such bad reviews from others, but our experience was more like what the LP reviewer had. The service was fine, and the food was excellent. We've lived in London and had some great Indian food there and elsewhere, but this was the best we've had. Highly recommended.

I went to Mumtaz Mahal for the first time for a birthday party and not only the food but the view also was amazing. The view was breathtaking . You would feel like you can see the whole of Muscat from this restaurant.Basically ,you can enjoy your food peacefully with the amazing view side by side. It is a must try and I highly recommend this restaurant. Go for it!!!!!!!
