Lonely Planet review
With large rooms and a swimming pool, and within easy walking distance of the beach, this is a pleasant and decidedly local place to stay. The helpful staff are happy to arrange boat trips and desert excursions.
In a pristine white building with tiled blue trim, big rooms with armchairs, balconies with sun shades and a lobby with sky blue domes and murals of painted brick work, there is no doubt that this is a townhouse in one of Muscat's sought-after residential areas. The only surprise is that it is a hotel - as many hotels in Muscat are usually purpose-built in 'I'm a hotel' concrete with 'I could be anywhere' interiors. Other local features include the lack of a bar or license for alcohol on the premises and a breakfast menu that includes foul medamas (beans) and khoubs (Arabic flat bread). With hospitable staff, a celebrated Middle Eastern restaurant on-site, and plenty of options for local exploration, this hotel offers a genuine Omani experience.
