Fine views over the town centre are to be had for those who climb to the summit of Varberg, the hill with the prominent TV mast. The path to the top takes about 20 minutes from the centre of town.

    Varberg is a nice place as a stopover from denmark north

    papalutz recommends this,

    We have often made a stopover here from the continent / germany to the north of sweden. Nice university, partly located in the old fortress in the old part of the harbour.
    We enjoyed very much the charming little bed & breakfast 'Okens' at the Västra Vallgatan 25, +4634080815 . This is operated by the swedish/danish couple Gert & Diba Okén ; the house has been carefully renovated without loosing the charme of the old building. Right around the corner : the old city, restaurants etc .
