Fru Hagen

In a city famous for outrageous prices and a local cuisine which is heavy on cod and light on flavour, Fru Hagen is a standout.  Located on the main street of Grünerløkka (Oslo’s most self-consciously hip area), Fru Hagen is both an old favourite of locals and a friendly place for tourists to drop by.  Once you’ve passed the few outdoor tables (watch just how quickly they fill up on a warm April afternoon!), you’ll find yourself in a welcoming and nicely decorated space sitting on plump red sofas or at snug tables.  Soups, salads and huge hamburgers always seem to be popular, but there is also a reasonable selection of snacks or pasta should you choose.  The drinks selection is good, and while drinking here will send you to the poor-house, it’s no worse than most places in Oslo.  An evening lazing in Grünerløkka is an important part of any trip to Oslo, and Fru Hagen is just about the perfect place to start (or finish) your night.

Fru.Hagen has an amazing atmosphere! The interior is just like a cozy livingroom from the 70s through the 80s and 90s... (if it makes any sense..) With comfortable sofas and pleasant lighting. The staff are very friendly and quick. 
Their sandwiches are some of the best in this part of town! Large and perfect for a long lunch! Expect to pay approx. 20$ for a large sandwich menu. Add a beer, and your check hits the 30$ mark. But its worth every cent!
