    Lonely Planet review

This mastodon of a hotel with nearly 250 rooms was constructed in 1897 and in 2013 became part of the Thon Hotel chain. It still exudes old-world grace from the mellow, wooden panelling of public areas to the magnificent oval Moorish-revival Palmehaven restaurant – but one of three places to eat – with its Corinthian pillars and central fountain. Rooms have a graceful, classical charm.

Our independent authors have visited Britannia Hotel and selected this as one of our recommended hotels in Trondheim.
