Norway roadtrip summer 2015

Hi all.

I'm planning a roadtrip through Norway this summer. I know that it is a biiig country - I have been there a lot of times (I'm from Denmark), but I really dream of going from Denmark to the far north of Norway.

I have my own car and a great telt (and my dog who is going to come with me), so I'm planning on mostely wildcamping throughout the journey - being the cheapest option plus I love camping.

I have vacation from late May to the first of september, and my only plans are this trip.

Accomodation in Oslo

I look for a cheap hotel or appartment in Oslo. Any suggestion?
I would like also to know if there are flea markets in Oslo during the week end. Which one is the biggest one? Thanks

8 day road trip in Sept.

My family is planning a trip to Norway this August/September, we don't have definitive dates yet, but we wouldn't be there any earlier than August 25 or any later than Sept. 14. We're flying in and out of Oslo and plan on spending a few days in the city where we have friends, but we also want to set aside 8 or so days for traveling around the country. There will be five of us total, myself and my siblings are between 20-29 and my parents are 60. We were planning on renting a car as we thought…

Polar Lights & NY

Hello,

we were dreaming to see the Northen Lights and finally ready to go! The plan is to spend 4 days in Tromso hunting auroras right after the NY day.

we are thinking if to spend the NY night itself in Oslo or in Tromso? I assume staying in Oslo should be more fun, but it also means decreasing the opportunity to see auroras by one night as Oslo is too much illuminated... what would you recommend?

thanks a lot in advance!

Traveling to Oslo December 30th - January 2

Hi all

Taking my first trip to Oslo (and later, Copenhagen) from December 30th - January 1st or 2nd. I currently live in Manhattan in NYC.

I know it's not a lot of time, but I want to get as much packed in as I can. A few interests I have are:

The Munch Museum
Norwegian Museum of Cultural History
The best thrift/vintage shopping for clothing, small home items, etc.
Gay nightlife (especially on NYE)
Other nightlife (good bars, restaurants, etc).
Any surrounding countryside (needs to be pretty…

Svalbard observatory

Has anyone visited the Svalbard observatory near Longyearbyen? Is there a realistic way to visit it without driving yourself? I read there are taxis in town, but I guess taxis won't stay at the observatory so what about the way back?

Svalbard in February 2015 - Activities?

Hello,

I've just booked flights and accommodation for Svalbard, arriving 25 Feb for a week. The good news - and a tip for other tourists I guess - is it's an awful lot cheaper than it was a few years ago, mainly thanks to the rise of Norwegian Air as a budget carrier. Return flights from London for under 200 Sterling.

I wanted to see the light very early in the year, and ideally photograph it. I've read enough to know that wondering off on your own is a non-starter with the bears and the…

two-days trip from Oslo? (Flam train being closed down, need a change of plan)

Hi,
My boyfriend and I are going to Norway for three days next week-end. We've already been to Oslo so we want to spend three days out discovering the fjords and see the Norwegian landscapes.
We were thinking of going to Bergen, maybe stay one night, and do a fjord cruise from Bergen. We wanted to go Flam but the NSB website says that due to floods the train to Flam is closed... We're not sure about Bergen as it seems like a bit city and our plan was to spend maybe on or two nights in a cozy and…
