I have been granted Trainee Work permit by UDI(Norwegian Directorate of Immigration). I applied for visa up till 11th July as my Employment Contract ends on 10th July. As for Norway, you get a temporary visa first, where end date of the permit is not mentioned so I didn't know that UDI has actually given me visa up until 10th July (as this date was mentioned in my employment contract). I booked return flight back home in the morning of 11th July.
I still have to go to police station to get…
I know it's a bit last-minute, but we're considering to visit the Fjords region between the dates May 8-15. Arrival and departure will be from Oslo.
I already asked about the weather conditions and April, and now we moved our plans to early May.
We're looking for a very "quiet" trip, with focus on countryside, fjords, and since it's only a week, to skip Oslo or other cities.
We really like driving around on scenic routes and stay in beautiful landscape, but knowing the…
We are travelling to Norway this October. We are to travel to Tromso but our flights from UK is to Oslo Rygge. Unfortunately, the fights we booked to Tromso is from Oslo Gardermoen.
We will be arriving at Oslo Rygge on 26th of October at 22:00 hours. Our flight to Tromso from Gardermoen is at 08:25 hours on the next day (27th October)
Is there any train lines or buses that operate during that hour?
What would be the best option for me?
My wife and I will be trekking Jotunheimen in late July, early August. We plan to start in Gjendesheim and end at Spiterstulen. I understand from other postings here and elsewhere on the Internet that there is bus service to/from both ends and Oslo, but I have had no luck in finding specific schedule or fare information. I have looked at the Valdresekspressen site. Nothing specific yet there for Gjendesheim, but I understand it may be available closer to summer. Nothing on Spiterstulen or Lom…
Hi, i am travelling to Oslo next week, i will be staying there for just 2,5 days and i want to see all the major sights of Oslo. Like Holmenkollen, Fram and Kon Tiki Museums, Munch Museum, City hall, nobel prize centre, just as much as possible. Do you think, i need to do online-reservations for tickets at this time of the year ? Certainly, there is not much time for me to stand in line in front of ticket offices, but i hope that Oslo is not crowded with tourists in such early spring time. Or am…
Hi there — My wife and I are going to Norway and we’re stuck in between two options. We’ll be there from Saturday June 25 to Tuesday, July 5.
Here are our two options:
Rent a car (Tesla?!) and drive from Gardermoen > Fortun (1 night) > Geiranger (1n) > Alesund (2n) > Bergen (2n) > Geilo or Flåm (1n) > Oslo (2n).
I think this give us the best option to see a lot of stuff. Unfortunately it does result in a lot of driving. We were in Iceland 2 years ago, and had no issues driving around…
My cousin and I will be visiting Norway near the end of June and are trying to plan our itinerary. We'll be staying in Bergen from 06/24-06/28 and then travel to Oslo on 06/28 and be there until 07/01. We would like to see some of the infamous Norwegian Fjords closest (within 2-4 hours or so)to the Bergen area and possibly do some hiking in them. We just don't know how to go about doing so. We are travelers, not tourists, so the "Norway in a Nutshell" tour might not be for us…
Greetings! I've read through the forum, and gleaned good advice, but still have some specific questions:
Four of us -- all very fit, distance runners -- would like to do a hut to hut hiking trip somewhere convenient (i.e. public transit -- boat or train or bus) from Bergen during the last week of June/first week of July. I have joined the DNT and thus would have access to self catering cabins (I believe). We've never trekked in Norway, so it's all new.
