Husband and I will be in Norway for 8 days. We will arrive in Oslo Wednesday the 23rd of August and fly out late morning on Thursday the 31st of August from Oslo. So far our plan is to:

Day 1: Oslo - explore city and spend the night in city center.

Day 2: Leave Oslo in AM. Potentially do the Flam railway and ferry portion of the NIN Tour? Too much of a pain to get back to the vehicle? Stay overnight where?

That's it. Our musts are hiking, kayaking, Bergen, and Preikestolen. We are…

Hi,
I am planning to visit Stegasten Observation viewpoint from Flaam in July. I read that there is a tour company to there.
I wonder if I can get here by public transit. There is a public bus from Flaam to Aurland. It is 9 km from Aurland to Stegasstein Viewpoint.

Is it easy and good hike from Aurland to the Viewpoint?
Is it easy to hitchhike on the way up?

Thanks,

Hello. I would like to stay in the Schengen countries for more than 90 days. I am a U.S. citizen and don't need a visa for 90 days or less but would like to know what I need to do to allow me to stay longer. Do I need to apply for a long stay/D visa or an extension? Thanks for your help.

Hello, So I have done some reading on the forum and found lots of great info. But to get some additional help, I thought I would post. So I am bringing my family for a 10-14 day trip to Norway (probably 14 days). I have read about the expense of rental cars and how the train system is really good. But as a photographer, I think the car lends itself better as I can stop and go as I please to take photos along the way.
Given that, if flying into Oslo and wanting to head out from there, how far…

Hi All,
I am planning to travel from Olso to Bergen in July.
I would not find any local ferry to go up north.
The www.hurtigruten.com coastal ferry offers tour package.
The only way I find it to take a train back to Oslo and then take a train to Andalsnes, take a bus to Geiranger.

Is there any other suggestion?

Thanks in advance.

Hello all! I am planning a 10-day round trip with my boyfriend from Oslo to Oslo in late August and plan to rent a car. My boyfriend is obsessed with vikings, so I am trying to fit in as much viking stuff as possible. I researched and saw that there are either a lot of historical sites on the southern coast from Oslo through Kristiansand up to Haugesund, or there are sites up north from Trondheim to Levanger and the Lofoten islands. I already told him we can either choose to see the southern…

Hi all,
TRIP is 09 MARCH - 20 MARCH (10 days)
Quite avid into travel photography (really remote), hiking and kyaking - pretty much anything outdoors & gives you a rush.
Due to the ridiculously high prices in Norway looking to buddy up for ANY of this trip I have planned from BODO up through LOFOTEN ISLANDS ending w. 2 nights in TROMSO. So for 2 or 3 days or longer as I will be moving fairly quickly.

09 March - arrive in Bodo - take first ferry out the next day to LOFOTEN ISLAND.
from there I…

Hi everyone,

I am travelling to Norway next Winter with some friends. We fly into Oslo before heading north.

We wanted to go shopping for warm clothes once we get there, and I was wondering if anyone could tell me the name of an outdoor/adventure clothing shop in Oslo or provide their website, so I can compare the prices in Oslo to Australia.

I did a similar trip to Sweden, and the store in Stockholm was called Naturkompaniet (http://www.naturkompaniet.se). I am not sure if that is specific…

Hi,

I'll be visiting Norway for the first time in March. I'm flying in from Iceland on Monday, March 27th, landing about 11:30am. I'll be flying back out on Thursday, March 30th at 8:30am.

I figured I'll spend Monday touring the town of Bergen.

I can't decide between a hike from Ulriken to Fløyen on Tuesday, or drive out to hike Trolltunga. Are hikes even allowed in late March to Trolltunga? I saw someone post a sign that said hikes were only allowed with a guide during that time?

I know I…
