Lonely Planet review
Famously the only hotel in North Korea to get CNN, the Potonggang is owned by Unification Church leader Reverend Moon, who negotiated directly with Kim Il Sung in 1991 for its purchase. The hotel is situated by the small Pothong River, about 4km from the city centre and is often used for Japanese tourists. It's almost unheard of for Western groups to stay here.
Our independent authors have visited Potonggang Hotel and selected this as one of our recommended hotels in North Korea.
