  1. Asolo Repertory Theatre

Adjacent to the Ringling Estate, this lauded regional theater company is also an acting conservatory (in partnership with Florida State University). It presents a vibrant mix of commissioned works, classics and current Tony-winning dramas on two main stages. The Sarasota Ballet also performs here.

  4. Aviary

Grant Achatz's bar beside Next is more in spirit (pun!) with his other restaurant, Alinea. The lounge shakes and stirs one-of-a-kind drinks such as Buttered Popcorn, which tastes as advertised. The selection changes frequently, as do the 19 different types of ice. Drinks cost around $16 each.

    Bardot

If you can't stand lines and crowds, we recommend visiting Bardot, in Wynwood, on a weekday. This could be said of any club in Miami, but you really should see the interior of Bardot before you leave the city. It's all sexy French vintage posters and furniture seemingly plucked from a private club that serves millionaires by day, and becomes a scene of decadent excess by night. There are a lot of gorgeous Miamians here and we stress: the crowd is local, so while it's a glam scene, it's a much more friendly, laid-back one than the ridiculous posturing you might see in South Beach (not that there's no posturing going on). The entrance looks to be on N Miami Ave, but it's…

  9. Bar Gernika

Ongi etorri (welcome) to the Basque block's most accessible pub-tavern with a menu that leans heavily on old-country favorites such as lamb kabob, chorizo and beef tongue (on Saturdays only). It's a true only-in-Boise kind of place.

  12. B Bar

This smallish basement bar, tucked under the Betsy Hotel, has two salient features. One is a crowd of the beautiful, in-the-know SoBe-tastic types you expect at South Beach nightspots. The other is an odd, low- hanging reflective ceiling, built out of a sort of wobbly material that sinks in like soft Jell-o and ripples like a stone in a pond when you touch it. It's a pretty cool thing to witness, especially when all sorts of drunk, beautiful people try to (literally) raise the roof.

    BB's

Part blues club, part blues museum, there's good music most nights in this glossy two-level joint. Good bar food includes legendary sweet potato fries. Beale, right across the street, is also a great blues venue.

    Belmont Bar

Sip your adult beverage on a stylish terrace overlooking the city. Sometimes the bar screens B-grade flicks on the white stucco wall in the garden.

A Printer's Alley standby, with low ceilings, sweet blues and Mardi Gras beads everywhere.

  22. Brick Store Pub

Beer hounds geek out on Atlanta's best beer selection, with some 17 meticulously chosen draughts (so underground, they're striking oil) and a separate Belgian beer bar upstairs. In total, nearly 200 by the bottle and a cool quotient approaching exhausting.

  23. Brillo Box Bar

Live music, excellent menu and a good Sunday brunch at this popular spot in Lawrenceville.
