I am looking for some recent information on obtaining a Nigerian visa anywhere between Ghana and Nigeria. It's not actually for me, but my girlfriend (EU citizen). I am getting my Nigerian visa in Bamako, Mali, however she is flying down to Ghana to meet me and overland to South Africa with me. I need to find a place that will issue the Nigerian visa, if anyone has had any success lately please let me know. I've heard Cotonou in Benin, but also haven't seen any recent info.
Nigerian visa can be a tough one to get. I thought I was all set until I had a very unpleasant surprise leaving across land border to Cameroon.... Hopefully this story will help save someone else some hassle. I wouldn't want to wish this situation on anyone...
Got 10 day transit visa in Niamey (US passport, not a resident in Niger). Entered from Porto Novo, Benin to Lagos. On 8th day in Nigeria I got up early in Calabar and took 4+ hour trip by local transportation up to Ikom to cross into…
I was born close to Zaria in 1970 and but then moved to the states with parents (parents both from the US). My father and I would love to visit Zaria and Samaru and the surrounding cities but are nervous about all the travel warnings we read about. What is the safest way to travel in those areas? Just the two of us and a guide or is a small group a better way to go? Or should we really not visit at this point in time? We'd probably visit during the dry season. Thanks in advance for responding :)…
Later this year I am looking to travel from Lagos to Accra by bus; visiting Lome and Cotonou along the way.
Following a quick Google search I've come across the following companies that offer coach transport:
Young Shall Grow
Does anyone know anything about these companies or are there others you would recommend?
Any help or advice would be most appreciated
I'm looking forward to helping travelers who intend to visit Nigeria with questions which bother on tourist destinations, security, accommodation and related things.
Presently living in Sango Ota , a border town between Lagos and Ogun state and also have spare rooms and a vacant apartment in the house i live.
Questions are welcome.
I'm planning on some travel in West Africa and it seems like flights home are quite reasonable from Lagos. My plan would be to travel overland from Benin to Lagos and then fly out - I'm an Australian citizen.
I was just wandering what people's experiences are in obtaining a transit visa - how difficult is this? Is it worth the headache?
