How are security conditions at the Niger-Chad border? Are there multiple crossings, or any besides the one near Diffa? Are foreigners even allowed through?
Many thanks for all answers!

Hi everyone,
For those interested in traveling to Niger, here is some practical info after my visit to this great country in November 2015.

  1. In Niamey, I stayed at the Masaki Hotel, who pick you up from the airport for free. Moreover, the couple running it (a Nigerien woman and her French husband) are super friendly and helpful, and understand precisely what you need. Price for airco room: CFA 25.000, and they seem to have fan rooms for 20.000. The lady can also change CFA for EUR/USD at the…

Hello everyone!

I would like to visit the Northern part of Niger, specifically Agadez, Bilma, and Arlit. Can anyone advise me on these cities and if they are safe? I have heard mixed reports on them.

Hi all,
I'm currently in Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso. I got my Burkina visa in Bamako, Mali 2 months before I arrived, and today when I tried to apply for"visa entente" at the passport office in Ouagadougou, I was denied, because apparently you need to have at least 2 months left on your current visa to get the visa entente. They also cannot make a new Burkina visa for me because my current visa was made in Mali. So they have suggested that I get a 3 months visa for Niger (50,000CFA) in…

My friend and I hired a car from Satguru in Niamey with a french speaking driver. Our goal was to see a gerewol in Abalak. The car was 200$ USD per day not including gas.. The car was a good landcruiser and our driver Abdullah was great. We arranged a pick up when we arrived in Niamey at 2am and this turned out to be a good idea as we didn't see any taxi drivers, however this doesn't mean that one couldn't be arranged. We arrived on September 21st and we drove to W National Park, three 2.5 hours…

Hi there,

Seeing the activity on the Niger branch, I just hope someone will be able to answer my question: what is the current situation around Agadez - and is there a remote possibility to visit the Aïr mountains, or is the situation still too volatile for that? Planning to visit in November. Many thanks for your answers!

I recently came back from West Africa, were I visited Niger.
I took a bus from Ouagadougou/Burkina Faso to Niamey (leaves at 4am), with the visa Entente (be sure your BF visa is 3 months/multiple entries). I only spend the rest of the day exploring the city and took the Sonef bus to Agadez (22000CFA).
Accommodation in Niamey is extremely expensive, so I decided to sleet at the Sonef station. It is a modern, waled station, with 3 floors of "waiting rooms" with fans. First one for ladies and the…
