Hi There :)

I'm flying into Managua & arrive late in the evening, and am looking for a decent hotel or hostel to stay at by the bus station at Mercado Mayoreo as am planning on getting a bus the next day to the highlands.
As I'm landing quite late, I think it would also be good if the accommodation also offered an airport transfer.
It doesn't have to be an amazing place, but somewhere clean & safe for a solo female traveller, and where the staff spoke a little English.
I have travelled alone…

My girlfriend and I are traveling to Nica and are looking for non party hostels and or treehouses. I'm 32 and she is 28. It's not that we don't like to drink, but when traveling we usually lay off the booze for the most part. I've googled non party hostels but it only brings up the best party hostels. SJDS is a place we are going to advisor and try and find something further up the coast. Also the mountains up north, corn islands, omtempe, and anywhere else off the beaten path. Thanks.

There's not a lot about booking a flight to the Corns.

Here are the main facts:
- costena is the only airline flying to the Corns
- you can either book online or at the costena office at the Augusto C. Sandino airport. On some days they close at 6 p.m, on others at 3 p.m.
- when you book online they charge you 18 dollars more per person, it's noted as 'other' fees
- when you book online the price of the flight is way more expensive (for us it would have been 200 instead of 164)
-> we can definitely…

We just got back from Nicaragua and feel we need to write this to warn those who are non white on how they will be treated in Nicaragua. Throughout our trip we found them to be the most unfriendly, rude and unlikeable people (not to mention extremely racist). We have traveled to most of Mexico, El Salvador, Costa Rica and Guatemala to name a few but our experience with Nicaraguans made us very wary on how they treat those who are not whites. We found it outrageous and we think it is only fair…

Hi all,

I would like to visit Nicaragua or Guatemala in december for 2,5 weeks. Which country is mostly recommended? Of an other country which is better?

I am 26 years old and I like hiking, partying and surfing. I would like to sleep in hostels, meet new friends, have some great new adventures.

Are this countries safe for a dutch blond girl?

Hey there,
I am departing on a 2 1/2 month trip to Nicaragua in two weeks and was wondering if anyone has some advice? It's my first time travelling alone and I am just out of high school. Any ideas on routes to take, things to do and tips on staying safe would be much appreciated!
Cheers!

thanks to all who've answered previous questions about forthcoming Nica trip. One last one (I hope). Looking to spend a couple of days on/near a beach on the Pacific side, but we are not surfers. Can anyone recommend a spot n that coast where swimming is possible with decent quality accomodations? (Realize Caribbean side might meet the requirements better but time is short...)

We're arriving Managua airport on the late side (about 9:15) and planning to make Granada our first stop. Assume we won't be out of the airport till ten or so. Willing to pay for a taxi to Granada but generally try to avoid late night road transport in developing countries. Does it make more sense to stay near the airport and travel to Granada in the morning or should we be OK going straight on after arrival? Thanks

We (couple in our 50s) have got 6 nights in November left in Nicaragua when we get back from diving Corn Islands and want to see Leon, turtles, mangroves, birds and at least one volcano. We plan to hire a car. Do we drive to Jiquilillo for 2 nights and visit Estero Padre Ramos then head back to Leon. Or stay in Las Penitas the whole time and do day trips?
