Rama Cay information
Located inside Bluefields' bay, this barbell-shaped island is home to around 800 people – around half of all remaining Rama Indians. Isolated by the dominant Miskito culture, they still speak their own language and use their traditional government structures. It's a crowded place and a trip here is a cultural experience rather than a relaxing Caribbean island excursion.
Visits can be organized through the GTRK office in Bluefields, which can arrange transportation and also lodging.
