Hello community,

I have the following problem:
I traveled to Guatemala and got a 90 days stamp in my passport. I stayed there for 30 days or something and after that I drove directly from Antigua to Leon in Nicaragua over El Salvador and Honduras. On the border to El Salvador I got no stamp in my passport or something. On the border to Honduras I got a stamp that says I have only 30 days for Honduras - that was the first time I was confused. For Nicaragua they didnt stamp my passport, I got only

My husband and I love extreme sports and a good rush of adrenaline. We have 2-3 days to spend in either Somoto Canyon or Isla de Ometepe. What would you recommend? We'll be in Leon, so Somoto Canyon might be more convenient. But which one has more exciting outdoor activities? I'm assuming Ometepe is a more beautiful/breathtaking location?

Hi,
I would like to share with you the trip that I did in the Reserva Bosawas in May 2017.
I decided to organize the trip on my own, since I speak some spanish. I travelled solo.
I went to Bonanza because it seemed to be the best access point to the rainforest OR the town that was closer to the primary forest: I assumed this by looking on satellite images on Google Maps.
Bonanza can be reached by plane from Managua or by bus. If you choose the bus, you have to travel from Managua to Bonanza via the…

Hi All,

We are thinking of spending the month of September this year in Nicaragua. I know its the rainy season but unfortunately that's the only time we can get there. Where would you suggest we base ourselves so as not to get too drenched? I am hoping (as I have read on a few websites) that the rain is almost timed every day, i.e. its only in the afternoon for 2-3 hours and either side of that the weather is pretty good. Perhaps someone can confirm?

Or are we just being silly visiting…

Hi everyone,
i hope you can help us out. We just planned our trip to Nicaragua for 2,5 weeks. Our plan is to fly from managua to San carlos and stay in Indio Maiz from the 20th of july till the 23rd of july. Now we can't find a way out. The ferry that goes from san carlos to Ometepe island (our next stop during our tour) is no longer functioning, and there is no flight leaving the 23rd. To take a car will take us 7,5 hours and that is to long. Is there a different way out of San carlos to Ometepe…

Hi! I'm planning a trip to Nicaragua this summer and would like to do a week or two in a Spanish school while I'm there. I've heard good things about both Granada and Leon as places to settle down in for a couple of weeks. I think I'm leaning toward Leon because most of what I've read about Granada makes it sound extremely touristy, whereas Leon still seems to be a bit more authentic, I guess.

Can anyone share their experiences staying for any extended period of time in either city? Is life…

Renting a car

So we are traveling to Nicaragua next week and we're planning on renting a car for convenience but I found an old forum that made it sound risky. We are traveling with our two young sons, under 3 yrs and another couple with their two sons, 3 and under. With car seats and all our things we planned on renting cars for each of our families. We are only doing Granada and San Juan del Sur but also want to do some different day trips. What would you suggest? Thank you!

My husband and I have 11 days in Nicaragua. A few things about us: we are accustomed to jam-packed schedules, we love scuba diving, and given our short amount of time, we are seeking the fastest, most convenient transportation method among these cities. We are willing to pay extra for taxis, private shuttles, etc.

My questions are: 1) What is the fastest way to travel among these cities? 2) Would you spend any less time in any of these cities or skip anything? 3) Is there anything critical that…
