Bus & tram

Bus

InterCity (03-365 1113; www.intercity.co.nz) buses depart from Craddock’s Service Station (03-789 7819; 197 Palmerston St) to Nelson ($42 to $56, 3½ hours, 3.55pm daily), Greymouth ($24 to $32, two hours, 11am daily) and Franz Josef ($53 to $70, 6½ hours, 11am daily).

K-Bus (0800 881 188, 03-578 4075; www.kbus.co.nz) goes to Nelson ($51, 3½ hours, 11.40am daily) and Greymouth ($26, 1½ hours, 3.20pm daily), departing from the i-SITE.

East West Coach (0800 142 622, 03-789 6251) operates a Christchurch service ($50, five hours, 8am daily) departing from Craddock’s and returning from Christchurch at 2pm.

Karamea Express (03-782 6757; info@karamea-ex press.co.nz) links Westport and Karamea ($27, 1½ hours, 11.30am Monday to Friday May to October, plus Saturday from November to April), departing the i-SITE. Cunningham’s Coaches (03-789 7177; 179 Palmerston St) does this trip as a mail run ($20, three hours, 3pm weekdays), returning from Karamea at 5.45pm.
