Bus & tram

Bus

InterCity (03-365 1113; www.intercity.co.nz) buses depart from outside the National Kiwi Centre (03-755 5251; 64 Tancred St) daily for Greymouth ($18, 45 minutes, departing 12.30pm), Nelson ($82, seven hours, departing 12.30pm) and Fox Glacier ($49, 3½ hours, departing 2.55pm).

Atomic Shuttles (03-349 0697; www.atomictravel.co.nz) departs i-SITE to Fox Glacier ($30, 3½ hours, departing 8am and 3.15pm), Greymouth ($15, one hour, departing 11.30am and 4.50pm) and Queenstown ($40, 10 hours, departing 8am).

Coast to Coast (0800 800 847; www.coast2coast.co.nz) also runs daily to Christchurch ($35, 5½ hours, departing 1.05pm) from the National Kiwi Centre.

TrackNET (0800 483 262, 03-249 7777; www.tracknet.net) has a 7.30am departure to Queenstown ($80) stopping at Franz Josef ($35) and Fox Glaciers ($40) and Wanaka ($75).

Naked Bus (www.nakedbus.com) head north to Greymouth, and south to Queenstown stopping at Franz Josef and Fox Glaciers, Haast and Wanaka.

Hokitika Airport is on Airport Dr (off Tudor St), 1.5km east of the centre of town. Air New Zealand (0800 737 000, 09-357 3000; www.airnz.co.nz) has morning and afternoon flights (from $74 one-way) to/from Christchurch.
