InterCity (03-365 1113; www.intercity.co.nz) has daily buses south to Fox Glacier ($14, 40 minutes, departing 8am and 5.05pm) and Queenstown ($116, eight hours, departing 8am); and north to Nelson ($105, 10 hours, departing 9.15am). Book at the YHA or Scott Base Tourist Information Centre; buses depart from the YHA.

Atomic Shuttles (03-349 0697; www.atomictravel.co.nz) has daily services south to Queenstown ($50, 7¼ hours, departing 10.15am) via Fox Glacier ($15, 30 minutes), and north to Greymouth ($35, 2½ hours, departing 2.40pm), leaving from the Alpine Adventure Centre.

Glacier Valley Eco Tours (03-752 0699; www.glaciervalley.co.nz) runs shuttles to the glacier car park (return trip $12).

TrackNET(0800 483 262, 03-249 7777; www.tracknet.net) has a 9.15am departure to Queenstown ($50) stopping at Fox Glacier ($15) and Wanaka ($40).

Naked Bus (www.nakedbus.com) runs north to Hokitika and Greymouth, and south to Queenstown stopping at Fox Glacier, Haast and Wanaka.
