Rotorua restaurant recommendation

Hello!

My girlfriend and I are leaving soon for New Zealand and I just realised that we are going to be in Rotorua on the night of her birthday.

Can anyone recommend a nice restaurant? (kinda fancy but not too expensive- no more than say, $50-60 nzd for two people)

Anything meat-and-potatoes or Italian would be right up her alley.

Also, do we need reservations? Or no? It will be a Monday night.

Thanks in advance!

North and South in 21 days

Hi everyone!

I have been organising my trip to NZ and wanted some feedback on our itinerary. To give you some idea of our holiday style, we don't mind travelling every 2-3ish days, we like food, we don't like kayaking or any of those sort of things (including bungee jumping - sorry NZ!) and we like to see pretty things. We have hired a car to pick up in Auckland and drop off in Christchurch, so here is how I plan for our itinerary to go.

1 - Arrive Auckland @ 12:45pm
2 - Auckland
3 - Auckland…

North Island in two days

Hi there, having recently had some great replies to a query here, I'm going to try something more general.

I have two days with a hire car on North Island. Excluding Wellington and Auckland, what would you do with that time? or to put it another way, what would be your personal highlights/favourite places/best lesser-known little gems of the North Island?

2.5 week South Island Hiking Itinerary & Questions - Input appreciated!

Hi LP,

I'm planning to spend 2.5 weeks on the South Island in early March. I'm a 28 year old female traveling solo, coming from the east coast USA. I love to hike and simply be outside, and my main motivation is to just soak up the natural NZ beauty. I'm trying to keep costs low, and will be staying in hostels and traveling between locations by bus. My preferred style of travel is to see fewer places, but stay longer in the places I do visit and have a fuller experience. So I plan to fly into…

Shuttle from Taupo to Waitomo

Hi guys

I am planning my trip to NZ next month, and was planning to go to Waitomo from Taupo (looks like it's the same distance as from Rotorua)

I can't seem to be able to find any public transport/ shuttle bus/ tour options though?
I found Waitomo Wanderer through search but couldn't find the Taupo option on the site so asked and they told me that they don't do that tour anymore...

If anyone knows that would be most helpful

Thanks in advance!

Scenic beach on the South Island

Hello. I am excited to return with my new spouse to the South Island for 10 days. We are looking for scenic beaches, not for swimming but for scenic beauty. We are coming in and out of Christchurch and are renting a small car. We are arriving from California and promise NOT to drive upon our arrival! If you have a favorite, we would appreciate the name. Thank you.

Heading to New Zealand!

Hey Guys!

I will be in New Zealand from Feb 9th and will be heading around the country with the kiwi experience bus travel. But since I'm going solo I was just wandering if anyone else was planning on being around in the country/thinking of doing the kiwi experience at a similar time to me?

Cheers
James

Auckland airport -- what to do with free time in area

Hi there

Even allowing for customs/immigration/transfer between terminals I will have several hours to spare in Auckland in February. Having just got off a long flight I am looking to kick back a bit. I'm thinking hotel with swimming pool open to non-residents, or even access to a beach -- or anything restful and good for the soul. Any suggestions?
