Getting there & away
InterCity (09-913 6100) buses stop at National Park, from where you can get a shuttle to Whakapapa Village.
The Tranz Scenic Overlander (0800 872 467; www.tranzscenic.co.nz) trains on the Auckland–Wellington line stop at National Park and Ohakune. The service runs in both directions from Friday to Sunday May to November, and daily December to April. It will cost up to $100 from Auckland or Wellington.
