I just booked a flight from Tokyo to Auckland at the beginning of November of this year :D I would like to book a flight out from Queenstown. Now I'm researching how much time I should spend in New Zealand. At the moment, I'm not sure if 3, 4 or 5 weeks is best. Can anyone help me, regarding the following information.
- Arrival: Auckland, beginning of November.
- Check out Northern and Southern island, not sure yet what places to visit exactly.
- Departure: Queenstown, end of…
As part of my brief trip to NZ I'll be in Auckland over the weekend of 24th - 25th October this year, which seems to be (hard to tell from the internet) grand final weekend of the ITM Cup.
From Wiki :
The ITM Cup (colloquially referred to as "National Provincial Championship" or "NPC") is the highest level of New Zealand domestic professional rugby union competition
I can't find where or how to get a ticket to a game, so my question is:
Do I try to get a ticket, or
Should I watch it on TV at the…
We're a couple living in Singapore. We're looking to travel to New Zealand this December for about 15 days. We do not want to self drive, but we're ok with any other mode of transport.
We love nature, animals, glaciers, mountains, and a bit of adventure.
Based on our research, south island seems exciting. We are considering arrival in Wellington since the ferry ride to Blenheim seems beautiful. Then, probably Christchurch, Mt Cook, Milford South, Fox Glacier and/or Franz Josef…

I'm researching my options on cheap flying in the journey I'm about to make. Getting to and from New Zealand seems quite expensive compared to hopping Japan - South Korea - Taiwan - Philippines. Ofcourse the distance to New Zealand is much bigger, but still. Anyone an idea how to get from the Philippines to New Zealand and back to SEA on a budget? I don't mind getting there via some other countries if that saves a couple of 100s, like visiting Singapore and an Australian city along the…
I'm planning a trip in Feb 2016 and thinking of flying to Christchurch and hiring a camper van to drive to Auckland.
Does anyone have any tips or advice, bearing in mind I'm an independent, adventurous woman on my own?
Does anyone have any local knowledge of cheap camper van hire? It doesn't have to be new or flashy, just reliable and clean?
Any help or info gratefully accepted!
I read in several places that the bus fares are cheap - as low as $1 - if you book in advance.
I checked several sites and was unable to find anything that falls into the cheap category - lets say $25 or less.
Any thoughts on where I should search for cheap bus fares?
I'm arriving in Auckland in December and planning on spending Christmas in Mount Maunganui. Has anyone spent Christmas there and what is it like? Ideally I'm looking for somewhere with a good night life/party atmosphere.
we are in the very early planning stages of a three-week trip to NZ next March/April. I assume many of you who've already been to NZ have used Google Maps to plan an itinerary. I wonder -- how accurate are the calculated driving times?
For instance, if I calculate a route from Christchurch via Queenstown and up SI's west coast and then on to Auckland, Google calculates 26 hours driving time for 1950 km, including 4 hours for the ferry crossing but of course excluding any detours…
