Rotorua & the Bay of Plenty

The Bay of Plenty is one of the sunniest regions of NZ, with Whakatane and the Eastern Bay recording the most hours of sunshine (2350 per year on average). In summer temperatures hover between 20°C and 27°C while winter sees the mercury fall as low as 5°C, although it’s slightly warmer on the coast. Rainfall is heavier inland in places such as Rotorua, which also experiences long dry spells in summer.
