Bus & tram

Bus

If you’re trying to get around local attractions, ask about their shuttle services: many offer courtesy pick-up and drop-off.

Cityride Rotorua (0800 422 928; www.baybus.co.nz) operates local bus services around town ($2), to Ngongotaha ($2), the airport ($2) and Tauranga (adult/child $11/6.50).

Several shuttles run around the town’s attractions with pick-ups at most hotels and hostels:

Affordable Adventures (0508 278 946; www.affordableadventures.co.nz) Runs a small bus wherever you want to go for whatever it costs; good for groups up to 14.

Geyser Link Tour Service (0800 000 4321; www.geyserlink.co.nz) Goes to Wai-O-Tapu (return $25) and Paradise Valley Springs (return $20).

Tim’s Thermal Shuttle (0274 945 508) Goes to Wai-O-Tapu ($50) and the Buried Village ($50). Fares are return and include entry fee.
