  2. B

    Lambretta’s

Feeding what seems like half of Nelson, Lambretta’s is a continually busy diner-style joint with ample seating inside and out. Family friendly, the big-eatin’ offerings include breakfast, lunch and dinner (pizza, pasta, salad) and hearty counter food along the lines of humongous muffins, pies, filled croissants and sandwiches. Good coffee, too.

    Winnies

Part-bar and part-restaurant, Winnies alway seems busy. Guess why. Pizzas with a Thai, Mexican or Moroccan accent, massive burgers, pasta and steaks, and occasional live music and DJs keep energy levels high. If you need more convincing, happy hour kicks in at 9pm.

    Zucchini Bros

Unpretentious, colourful and bustling, Zucchini Bros is the go-to spot for Dunedin folk for great pizza and pasta. Work from local photographers fills the walls, and Central Otago wines and Dunedin's own Emerson's beers are the perfect adjunct to all the wood-fired and hand-rolled goodness. Takeaways are also available.
