I've been living in NZ for nearly a year and a half, and have seen quite a lot of it. I've got a rough itinerary in mind for the 3 week trip that my mother is making, but I was looking for some unfound gems I may be missing?
Can you suggest some of the real gems that you've found in NZ? Anywhere special that you like? I know its a very broad question, and it's meant to be as broad as possible so I can get a range of answers...
Hi everyone! I'm from Spain, travelling to New Zealand on november, after that I will fly to Indonesia for some weeks.
I have been checking the transport and tours throught the island (crazy expensive), and the options seems that the clever option it is to rent a car and move in hostels to socialize, etc....
I haven.t planned the route yet, but definetily I am interested in the national parks on the south, and I have time and flexibility to do long hikes.
I am just planning ahead to know if…
02/09/16 8:00am pick up motorhome Christchurch
10/09/16 4:00pm drop off motorhome Christchurch
I am after any advice for the best roadtrip through the South Island. We have a motorhome so will be trying to freedom camp, we want to be away from everything (exception is Queenstown) what's a good route for us to take? My husband has never seen the snow is there anywhere this time of year that would still have snowfall?? We want to see more of the lakes and mountains rather than the coast lines.
I am finishing up my plan for New Zealand in April 2017.
I plan on renting a car in Auckland dropping in Wellington. Pickup a car in Picton and drop in Greymouth.
I am trying to decide if I should do this trip North-South (as below) or reverse it and do South-North.
I know there is school holidays the second half of April and of course the weather.
Any advise? I am also interested in a sanity check on my plan as well. Open to all comments.
Fly to Auckland April 1 9:45 - 14:55
Auckland Day 2
Hi, I am interested in traveling through New Zealand by bicycle, and thought there may be here someone who did such a thing lately. If so, I will be glad to ask few questions.
Thanks in advance.
I have the option of choosing between two road-tips to Picton. I would like to know which trip is the more picturesque and recommended of the two? We will be traveling with an older lady who can walk quite well on flat surfaces but cannot partake in hiking or anything too strenuous. We are mostly interested in the natural beauty that we will be able to see along the drive and the viewpoints and short walks we can experience along the way.
Here are the 2 options:
I will be traveling in New Zealand in August. I am starting from Auckland on the 8th of August and leaving from Auckland on the 24th. During these 2 weeks I would like to see the best of New Zealand !
I already have a beginning of route but it's quite flexible yet.
But the most important is : I'm looking for travelmates !
About me, I am a 21 yo French Veterinary Student. I am actually in internship in New Caledonia. I love traveling and discovering new countries and people. I speak…
I´m a 41 year old female ICU nurse, working freelance in Norway, living in Denmark. Booked a one-way ticket to Auckland on the 6th of september. This year ;) Don´t quite know yet in details where I wanna go or what I intend to see, in specific. But a lot of nature, new people, culture good food.
After 2-3 weeks in NZ, both north and south island, I´m planning to book a ticket for Sydney....and ...see a bit of Australia as well.
Need ideas-inspiration and hopefully some companionship…
I am planning to tavel around new Zealand in Novemebr and I would like to do it by bus...
I need some great advise, as it seems that it would be really simple to get to each location, but then, to visit all the tourist place, I found out only expensive tour with agency...
Who can help me? I do not prefer to use travel agency, if possible...
Many thanks in advance!

My husband and I have an extra day on the South island of New Zealand that we can't decide what to do.
Day 1: Land in Queenstown and explore
Day 2: Milford Sound
Day 3: ?
Day 4: Fly to Auckland
Our options are to do a tour of Doubtful Sound or do a tour from Queenstown to Christchurch with a stop at Mt. Cook.
