Queenstown has endless places to stay, but many visitors seeking accommodation. Midrange travellers won’t find much choice. Consider a top-end place or go for one of the excellent budget options and spend up on activities. Places book out and prices rocket during the peak summer (December to February) and ski (June to September) seasons; book well in advance at these times. Rooms with guaranteed lake views often have a surcharge.
The Queenstown Accommodation Centre has a range of holiday homes and apartments on its website, with prices ranging from around $200 to $500 per week. There is often a minimum-stay period.
Ask at the DOC office for directions to the 12-Mile Delta campsite, 11km out of town towards Glenorchy, and Skippers campsite, near Coronet Peak.
