Hi all,

I've been granted a working holiday visa, and am hoping to spend time not working backpacking.

Being from the north eastern United States, I need a bear canister everywhere I go here. Will I need one in NZ? I'd really like to not have the extra weight, and would appreciate the extra space.

Thanks so much!

I'm visiting Auckland in a couple of months and would like to visit a classy nightclub or chic lounge with good music(Fri/Sat). I can't seem to find anything current. Does anyone have good recommendations for nice spots for people in their late 20s-30s?

Hi! My friend and I are planning to visit either Waiheke or Rotorua for a weekend getaway sometime next month.

The cost to get to either is the same and everything, and we pretty much enjoy doing anything, so can anyone recommend which of the two would be better? And what specific things are there to do in either?

It's our first time in New Zealand as well!

The wife and I are traveling to NZ in a few weeks and I am wanting some insight/input on our itinerary. Any help would be great. The first 3 days are in stone as far as reservations go, but everything else is flexible (i figured it might need to be depending on the weather). Itinerary is as follows with day 1 being May 11th.
Day 1 - Land in Wellington mid afternoon
Day 2 - Tour Wellington (suggestions)
Day 3 - Ferry to Picton, Rent car and drive to Nelson, overnight there.
Day 4 - Make way to…

So I'm a 22 y/o Irish girl, travelling to Auckland June-Aug for work shadowing. I'll be flying from London (anywhere in the UK really) and have the intention of travelling a bit either side. I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions for the best way to do this. I have done quite a bit of travelling by myself so keen to go somewhere with some decent weather and safe enough for me, solo.

I have found cheap return flights to Phuket or the Philippines, but would getting flights from there to…

Hi,
we are a couple with 3 kids (11,7,1) and we will spend 9 weeks in NZ next summer (January, February, first days of March). Our idea is to rent a large car and to stay at baches/holiday apartments, mostly for 3 to 5 nights at one place (we have rented campers in other countries, and it is not our favourite option). What to you think about this idea?
We know it willl be high season. This is why we are planning to book early. Here is our planned itinerary. What do you think about it? We kindly…

Hey,
I'm planning on visiting New Zealand for their winter (my summer) to ski various mountains. I'm looking to shred with someone who is a very experienced rider like myself. Would love to check out Craigie and some of the more main ski resorts. Would be interested in touring and such. Let me know if you are shredding this winter and need a buddy who can keep up!

I'm hoping to fly to New Zealand and know that the USA is a waived country so I don't need to apply for a Visa.
However, I read that I need to fill out the arrivals form and waiver visa information upon arrival. That being said, one requirement was proof of return journey.
As standby, I have listed myself for a flight and will have it listed and be given a record locator and have all the flight information for the flight I'm trying to get on.
Is that sufficient? Or do I need a confirmed seat as…

My plans have changed and I will be going to NZ in September. I'm attending a conference in Australia and it makes more sense (affordable) to go to NZ from there. I will be arriving September 16th. I'd like to stay 2 to 3 weeks and travel by bus and stay in hostels. My ideal trip would be to stay about four days in each place I go and hike around. I'm overwhelmed by all the choices. Oh, and I'm 71 but fit.
Thanks
