The main bus stop is in Kapia St. Main Coachline (09-278 8070; www.maincoachline.co.nz) runs six buses per week to and from Auckland ($45, three hours) via Matakohe ($18, 35 minutes). A private operator runs a Whangarei-to-Dargaville Shuttle (021 380 187; one way/return $10/16) on weekdays. The Paihia–Auckland leg of the Magic Travellers Network (09-358 5600; www.magicbus.co.nz) has a fixed fare ($55, four buses weekly) hop-on, hop-off service that includes unlimited stops and pick-ups along the route, including Opononi and Matakohe.
