New Zealand is coming to terms with the earthquake of 22 February, which devastated Christchurch on the South Island.
Travellers on Twitter and Facebook have organised in response, spreading the word that the vast majority of New Zealand remains unaffected and would benefit from your visit. The 'Blog for New Zealand' movement has spread on these platforms.
According to Craig Martin, one of the movement's proponents, 'This supports the great little country after the Christchurch earthquake last month, and means we get hundreds of mouthwatering photos, videos and stories to inspire us to go.' In a press release, Martin outlines the campaign's objective: 'We want a total black-out of travel content across the world, we want Twitter dominated by Tweets about travelling to New Zealand, we hope that all travel bloggers rally behind this cause and publish as many articles as possible throughout this period about travelling to New Zealand.'
