Stunning!
niesha recommends this,
The Botanic Gardens in Christchurch are absolutely beautiful! It's a great place to visit on a sunny day - take a book and sit under a big tree, or go for a little stroll. There lots or little lakes and plenty of ducks. It's looks amazing when all the daffodils and tulips are in bloom around springtime. The gardens are right next to the museum and right across the road from the Arts Center. There's also lots of little cafes and places to eat along the Avon river nearby. Make sure you take your camera!

Oh where do I start?

Every single time I take my camera to the park my computer at home loses a gigabyte or two of free space.... And it's beautiful all year round.
Super gorgeous, even if you're a black thumb like me! You can't really go wrong here but some great things to check out are the greenhouse (find the carnivorous plants and orchids room), the rose garden, a stroll beside The Avon (bring a bag of bread and feed the ducks), and playing with the user powered fountain (if you can pry the kids away from the controls). And if you feel so inclined go to the Antigua Boat Shed and rent a boat, I like the kayaks best but they have a range of boats (including Gondolas which someone else pushes along for you!), just try not to get stuck with someone in a double kayak who doesn't do their share of the work...
