Lonely Planet review for Two Fat Indians
Closed until further notice.
Drawing backpackers and locals alike, this polished twin-room eatery lives by the tagline 'The art of pint and curry'. The extensive menu pleases both carnivores and vegetarians, and includes palak kofta (spinach dumplings) and a reliable chicken tikka masala, all with matching beer recommendations.

Two Fat Indians: A Healthy Indian Alternative?
ptkazi recommends this,
Indian food in the middle of New Zealand? Two Fat Indians provides a taste of India from North to South - parata (Indian tortillas) to shag paneer (curds with spinach). There's something for vegetarians and meat-lovers alike, and there's even a fortnightly presentation of an aspect of Indian culture. For newcomers to this cuisine, the menu provides a clear explanation of each delicacy, from the level of spiciness to what goes with what. The atmosphere is urban and upbeat, with the latest Bollywood hits, in the middle of suburban-like Christchurch.

TWO FAT INDIANS
connoisseurr recommends this,
This popular Indian restaurant is well worth trying out. Whether you are a connoisseur of Indian food, or even if this is your first time to try out Indian delicacies, I'd recommend the TWO FAT INDIANS. My partner and I both started our meals with the Palak Koffa ehtree. [Spinach dumplings.] The mains we ordered were Rogan Josh and Chicken Tikka Masala. These were favourite dishes of both of us, and we certainly weren't disappointed! Not normally beer drinkers, we opted for some light Indian lager beers, which were very refreshing.
This Indian restaurant appeals to budget travellers, families and groups.
Definitely recommended.Good for: Budget Travellers, Groups, Families
