Are credit cards with a chip and a pass code widely used?
Are there any money issues I should be aware of such as inconvenient exchange offices or a fear of certain pieces of currency issued before or after a certain date or the serial number on the currency?
I will be traveling with US dollars and a Visa card with a chip.
I'm travelling NZ in Nov/Dec for 4 weeks and am aiming to hire a car. It seems pretty cheap compared to other continents I've been on, but would of course love to split the cost with more people.
Are there any websites to find people to coordinate a car rental?
Is it likely I'd find people along the way in hostels, or starting in Auckland?
Any advice appreciated!
I've seen pictures of the electric plug - two slanted prongs and three slanted prongs.
I have a converter with two slanted rectangles.
Will I also need a converter with three slanted prongs?
Now that I found a car (see my other thread), I'm booking hostels for the duration of my trip, since I've been warned that it'll be busy. So I booked day after day until 31st of December where I'm supposed to me in Queenstown. The day before, I'll be in Te Anau, and two days later in Lake Tekapo. The problem is that everything is fully booked in Queenstown at the time. Not a single bed available! I wasn't unaware of the existence of Queenstown one hour ago, only to realize it's the place…
Is there a night bus service between Christchruch and Queen Town (or Te anau )?
Naked bus has this service, but it operates twice a week, Thursday and Saturday from Christchurch.
I want to use it on Wednesday night. (as I want to arrive at Teanau on Thursday morning.)
Does anyone know bus company which has more frequentry service?
I'm planning on renting a car for my 3 weeks trip in New Zealand around Christmas. I'll pick up a car in Auckland, and then drop it in Christchurch. If possible, I'd like to take the ferry without a car. I have started to look at various rental companies online but it's not always clear what their policy is regarding the ferry. LP says that many companies insist that people switch cars between islands, but it doesn't appear to be the case when I try to book online (nothing is said about…
Hello. We are making our 3rd trip to NZ in Dec-Jan and boy has it changed since our last trip when few people travelled there. This time we had to book all our accommodation in advance, especially since our son will be travelling with us.
We would like some recommendations on what and where to eat. The restaurants seem much more expensive than before. But if there are some that are really worth the money then please let us know. But it does not have to be just restaurants. Where can we…
I will be coming soon to NZ and driving with my friends from AKL to CHC.
We are group of 10-11 pax and are thinking:
- Can I rent and drive a 12 seater (like Toyata Hiace) with regular international driving license(I am from Poland)?
Looking forward for your experience!
Hello fellow travelers!
Heading to NZ in early Nov, for a 2-3 month solo backpacking trip. I land in Aukland and am hoping to start with the Te Paki Coastal Track (or part of it). Looking for advice on getting there and back... without a car, and on a sensible budget. Some coaches (Naked Bus etc..) go from Aukland to certain towns close enough to Cape Reinga , but it feels like I would waste time to have to hire another tour company because of set schedules. I'm also wondering what my best…
I am traveling to New Zealand by myself for 3 months. I will have 6 weeks to travel and 6 weeks working on a farm. From your experience or your planning what have you found to be the best; car, bus, or hitchhiking?
