Hi all, we're planning our trip to NZ in nov/dec this year. Booked already a campervan, pick up in Chirstchurch and returning after 31 days in Auckland. Want to book the ferry in advance, so we're planning the best route. difficult to decide after how many days we should move from Southern Island to Northern Island. What would you recommend us? I was thinking we should spend around 16/17 days in the South and then travel for the last 14 days to the North.
I'm heading from Christchurch to Queenstown November 13. It's a scenic, 7ish hour drive and wanted to know if any other backpackers were interested in splitting a car rental. Lots of gorgeous outdoorsy spots along the way, and I'd be dropping the car in Queenstown, although my ultimate destination is Wanaka.
I'm female, 27, headed to Wanaka for vineyard work- just looking to make the drive a bit easier on myself.
First of all thanks to all the awesome people here helping out. I got so much help for planning my trip from answers to other posters.
Visiting from 13th to 26th (12 days not excluding flight days). Land and Wellington and exit from Christchurch.
I am confused between Kaikoura and Rotoura. I originally planned to do Kaikoura, but now my travel agent insists that Kaikoura is not that great and i definitely shouldn't miss out on Rotoura and Tauranga, for it. I love wildlife and nature…
after travveling around many countries in SE Asia (Philippines, Indonesia, Thailand, Malaysia) I planed to travel to Newzealand for about 3 Month from November. Accidentally I saw a website, where was mentioned that Newzealand became one of the most dangerous countries through the last years and that many many tourists were injured or killed by various gangs all over the country, especialy Auckland, Paihia, Wellington Christchurch. Furtheremore it was mentioned, that tourists often are…
Dear travellers to NZ!
Last summer (jan 16) we visited NZ – the north and south island and we had a really great time. The only wrong decision was the selection of the car rental agency.
Never ever rent your campervan at CAMPERVANSNEWZEALAND.CO.NZ – it was the most horrible experience we ever had when renting a vehicle abroad (and believe us, we have seen a lot;))! It was a big mistake!
Here is a summary of our experiences:
1. First of all we made the mistake not to take detailed pictures of the…

I'll be flying into queenstown January 26th from Southern California and driving down to invercargil then drive up to fox glacier park to do some hiking. After that heading down to shot over jet to do some jet boating before returning the rental car back at the airport to go visit base backpackers for the rest of the weekend.

Just looking for feedback on possible 10 day New Zealand itinerary for my honeymoon. I know this is a bit ambitious but having a hard time narrowing things down. We do want to see as much as possible but don't want to be too drained from driving.
Would love any thoughts or feedback like if we should give some places more time or skip other places. My big dilemma is Queenstown, Milford Sound, Glaciers are non negotiable but would still like to see Mt. Cook and Lake Tekapo as well but it is…
I'm planning a 3 week trip and would like to know any opinions on my itinerary as this will probably be a once in a lifetime hiking trip to NZ. I'm a avid multi-day backpacker in good shape and that is the focus of my trip, but I like a day or 2 to relax and recover between hiking trips.
2/22/17 Fly out from Atlanta, GA
2/24/17 Land in Queenstown and get a room
2/25/17 Relax in Queenstown (recover from jet lag etc...)
2/26/17 Shuttle from Queenstown to Routeburn Shelter and hike to Routeburn Flats…
