Lonely Planet review for SPQR
This ivy-covered Ponsonby Rd hot spot is well known for good Roman-style, thin, crusty pizzas and excellent Italian-influenced mains. The surrounds are a stylish blend of the industrial and the chic, the lights low (bring your reading glasses!), the buzz constant and the staff smooth and camp all at the same time.

Watching Style Dine.
belgiankiwi recommends this,
If it be a hot afternoon which begs your skin for shade and taste-buds for a crisp set of Vino, let casual breeze on Ponsonby Road to drift you onto a ivy encrusted house full of the "here and now crowd", also known as the popular lunch choice, SPQR.
Choose either the inside tables that set the mood for intimacy, or the outer tables that provide a viewing deck for the on-look to Ponsonby Road, both choices provide the prefect setting for the delicatessen style food which is selected from the various different styles of menus handed to you swiftly and charismatically from one of the waiters.
The vast selections and knowledge of wines (The Kumeu Pinot Gris' the overall personal favorite) and house beers to accompany with either the highly palette-able homemade pizza or the crisp, light (yet filling) salads overall made the deal in the calm and unique establishment the choice of many whilst the rest of the town was crowded in line in stress ridden lunch bars.
