Arguably the country's best Indian (they will argue), Oh Calcutta ventures beyond the familiar butter chicken into exotic and ebullient menu territory. Try the sweet chilli duck, fish tikka (spiced and smoked) or something from the tandoor.

    One cool Auckland evening on the eve of Christmas,
    Hoping for a bit of an adventure we ventured into Oh Calcutta

    Crammed in were tons of people,
    All gasping from the heat of the chili.
    Low and behold we finally found a table (we hadn't booked in advance)
    Coriander Sambar and Lamb Rogan Josh were our choices
    Indescribably good were the spices
    Tikka masala and Goan Fish Curry soon followed
    Taste was no issue, of that I can assure you.
    All had eaten so much they could barley swallow
