Lonely Planet review for White Lady
The lady in white stealthily materialises after dark, or is it that everyone's too drunk to notice her arrive? This mobile burger bus has been frying-up fast food to late-night boozers since the '50s. The burgers are exxy, but monstrous and greasy and best enjoyed while bathed in the neon glow of the late-night city.

Burgers with character
visir recommends this,
Extremely good. I live in Iceland and here we have "bæjarins bestu" which translates "towns best". It's a hot dog stand based in a really small old shack downtown. That is the most popular foodstand tourists eat at, and has been the most favourite place for fastfood in iceland for years. So The White Lady is just the same back in Auckland. I was travelling around the world 2 years ago and one of the most memorable and best food I had was just a burger. That's is weird. But the thing is, that The White Lady makes their burgers in such a way that you will never forget the taste, the jucieness and the experience of going for a quickie!
Good for: Burgers, eating, the white lady

A Timeless Classic...With A White Twist
richmannz recommends this,
At first contemplation, the 'White Lady' sounds more suited to a high-end restaurant located on the shores of Devonport or the Viaduct Basin. Well that’s what my out-of-town girlfriend thought the first time anyway. Boy was she in for a surprise as we walked up to what she considered to be a ‘’dirty takeaway bar”. In appearance, the White Lady is in fact just that; a portable takeaway bar usually found in Central Newmarket late on a Friday/Saturday Night.
However, The White Lady is so much more than your average burger shop. When your Grandparents can recall downing a toasted sandwich after a night on the town; they must be doing something right, having lasted over 55 years.
The food is cooked right in front of you, while you converse with the many other people waiting to get their hands on this slice of Newmarket history. The Burgers? Superb. The Chips? Just as good. Same goes with all other items for sale, all at a very reasonable price.
The staff, despite working the long graveyard shift and dealing with drunks; are wonderful. The service is fast (less than 5min for myself) and they are extremely knowledgeable about the surrounding bars and clubs.
The White Lady is an iconic symbol of all that is Auckland. While the surrounding shop facades may have changed over time, this little gem remains to honour the way a New Zealand burger should be made. If the White Lady were to disappear, as my now-converted girlfriend said; ‘they might as well close down Newmarket altogether’.

whether you are in the City or Newmarket the welcoming caravan that is white lady will always make you feel better at 1am or later in the morning
personally the burgers are way too much for me to handle and i feel it the next day mixed with all those cocktails
but my definate favs are the toasted sandwhiches - never stingy on the ingredients whether its cheese ham or tomato and always hits the spot perfectlyWhite lady definately gets the 100 points considering I don't even eat takeaways or fast foods.... unless its that time in the evening and that lady is calling !

Amazing Burgers

After enjoying a night out in Newmarket there is nothing better than stumbling along Broadway to the White Lady.
The food here is terrific, cooked fresh and in front of you while you wait on the street with 6-10 other people in a similar situation to yourself.
This isn't to be mistaken for a restaurant, this is Auckland's version of a street vendor.
Don't worry about being ripped off if you have had a few too many. The majority of customers at 2am on Sunday morning are, and have been for many years, well taken care of by the understanding staff.
