On weekends you’ll want to get in early or get ready to queue for the breads, pastries, cakes and baked goods. Perfect for scoffing in situ, or away from the madding crowd.

    Stone Oven Breakfast Lovin’

    richmannz recommends this,

    On a cold weekend morning
While most people are still yawning
I make my way to Devonport
For a breakfast with food of all sort

    What to have?
    I thought inside
That’s simple - eggs over easy
    And bacon on the side

    Coffee perking, bacon frying
The smell of fresh baking underlying
I sit back to browse the paper
Enjoying a breakfast so good I swear I’m flying

Eating done I prepare to flee
Until out the corner of my eye I see
A temping range of breads and cake
What an excellent lunch it would make

Bags in hand I walk out the door
With the promise to return soon for more
To Stone Oven - the only place I come to Devonport for
    Damn it I’m a-lovin’

    Baking at it's best!

    milliestar recommends this,

Although I live a good 40 minute drive away from The Stone Oven, no week is complete without my Sunday morning journey to this gorgeous wee bakehouse/cafe. They have all their fare down to a fine art. Whether it be a homemade chicken pie warm from the oven, a crusty baguette or a hearty salad you are after, The Stone Oven has it all. What is fabulous about this place, is that no matter what mood you are in, or what you are craving, you will always find something here to satisfy you.

It is a perfect place to stock your picnic basket with all sorts of culinary delights, and then go and sit on one of the North Shore's gorgeous beaches. It is an equally ideal place to sit and have lunch, the surroundings are lovely and the service is fast and efficient. If you are going to sit down and have lunch there, I would highly reccommend the hotcakes - they are delicious and not too sickly sweet.

The prices are all very reasonable, my only word of warning is that you will leave with alot more things than you planned on purchasing. However I am sure you will find, as I do, that miraculously no matter how many goodies you come away with there never does seem to be anything leftover!!
