Getting there & around
Most island ferries leave from the Auckland waterfront, but some depart from Devonport, Half Moon Bay (East Auckland), Gulf Harbour (Whangaparaoa Peninsula) and Sandspit (near Warkworth). If you miss the last ferry, Reubens (0800 111 616; www.reubens.co.nz) operates a 24-hour water-taxi service (Auckland to Waiheke has a minimum charge of $167; to Rangitoto, $96).
