Hi everybody,

I'm trying to plan a trip to Nepal and I really want to hike up to EBC! Unfortunately I am on a budget and am hoping to find another way of getting there outside of paying 2000+ USD for a trek. Is there any way I can arrange transportation from Kathmandu to Lukla, hire a guide, and find places to stay while acclamatizing without buying a premade trek?

Thank you in advance,

Ilyas

Hi there,
I am planning to trek on the Annapurna Dhaulagiri Community Trek (http://nepaltrek.wixsite.com/nepalcommunitytrek/route) with my boyfriend next october. But it is hard to find lots of information about this trek since this is a relatively new one.
Does anyone have trekked over there recently? Is it not damaged by the 2015 earthquake?
We would like to do the trek on our own, without guide or porter. Is it easy to find the trekking route?
Are there many tea houses over the trail?
Thank you…

It has been a dream to see Nepal for so long now. I have looked at meditation retreats but not sure how much experience you need, I'd also like to be able to see more of Nepal as worried about being confined to one area. I have recently had a big operation which will affect my walking but will be building up strength and looking to go in April 2017. The Annapurna circuit looks like the best option for me maybe joining for half but not sure how difficult the trekking will be and wouldn't want to…

I've been searching the internet and this forum, but haven't found an answer. Maybe someone who has recently been to Nepal can tell me whether there is an ATM and currency exchange before customs and immigration in the Kathmandu airport? We are flying in from China and don't have easy access to US dollars to pay for our visa. Can we potentially convert RMB to US dollars?

Hi there!

I’m planning to be in Nepal from late October to the middle of November to hike the Annapurna Circuit. This is my first trip to Nepal (very excited!) and have questions. Sorry but there are several:

First, a cell phone 101 question -
I have a new unlocked iphone bought in November 2015, I want to be able to receive and respond to emails, texts and phone calls from home (U.S.) in case of issues/emergencies at home but otherwise I plan and hope to stay disconnected, i.e. I won’t be…

Fellow Adventurers,
Looking for some names of local agencies either in Kathmandu or Lukla that have good guide services at an affordable rate to hike the EBC and Gokyo lakes trek? Also, what is a standard rate for this trek for 2 people with a guide and possible porter(is a porter required if you're staying at teahouses the entire time?).

I am traveling with my wife at the beginning of March 2017 and she is concerned that we must have a guide for this trek, is this true? Can we not carry the…

Hey gang, I am shopping for tickets U.S. (west coast) to Nepal and seem to be finding plenty of flights. However they all seem to have these long layovers, sometimes two of them, usually in China. Im talking 10 to 16 hours. I have tried departing from various U.S. cities and seem to come up with close to the same itineraries.
Does anyone know a way around this? Am I just searching wrong? Using sky scanner for the most part.

I can figure out something to do with a lengthy layover, but with…

I am planning to take a general tour of Nepal for three weeks in October. I am an older guy, age 63 and will not be doing extensive trecking although I am quite strong and hope to explore the country. I enjoy architecture, views, museums and art. Do you think that 3 weeks is to much time to travel in Nepal? Would there be enough to see, do? I know this question is a bit vague but I look forward to your response.

In advance, thank you.

Eric

Can anyone recommend a place with reliable, quick wifi in KTM? When I say "reliable" I do take into account the regular power outages. I would just like to be able to go somewhere during the day to place a video call and upload some documents without having to wait ages/lose the connection... My guesthouse wifi is not so good. Thanks!
