Considering spending a week around Manang and then possibly heading for Manaslu
I'm hearing different things about the cost of the Manaslu permit - some people say it's 2000rp like the Annapurna, others say it's 140USD. Anyone has updated information on this?

About the weather - would love to know if it's already raining a lot or just the typical pre monsoon showers?

Thank you!!

Hi all,

I was on here last week asking about bags for hiking/traveling and gave the Farpoint 70 a go but it seems way too big. My husband and I want to hike independently and camp out instead of doing the teahouse option. We don't plan on doing heavy mountaineering treks but do want to go on lengthier treks.

My husband is bringing an 85 and I'm now looking at a 60l. He is worried he will end up having to be my porter as I won't have enough room.

What size bag do you all use for solo trekking…

Search continues for a trekker, Vitaly Bazlov, missing in the Nepal Annapurna region. Currently search-and-rescue dog teams, friends and relatives are scouting the area around lake Tilicho, which is where Vitaly was last seen on morning of 6th May, 2016.
If you have travelled anywhere in the area on and after 6th May (including lake Tilicho, Manang, Torong-La pass, Mesokanto La pass, Muktinath, Jomsom), or know someone who has, please let us know if you have seen Vitaly or any of his belongings…

Has anyone been to upper mustang recently?
I heard no permit is required at the moment - is that so?

I'm looking for a place to trek for 3 weeks or so now that the monsoon seams to be here to stay.
Have done Jiri - EBC - Gokyo - Jiri already & the Annapurna circuit 10 years ago

Any suggestions?

Thank you :)

Hi,

Just wondering is there any need to pre-book flights in Nepal. I am travelling in November on a tight time line and will need to take a return flight to Chitwan, but use the "super deluxe" bus to Pokhara.

Do the flights get more expensive closer to the date or are they always around the same price (usally 90-100 US)?

Thanks

I am an extreme Temple Trotter and slow traveler. I spent a month in Nepal back in 1987 and loved it, especially the architecture. But, I have not been back since then. I am considering an 8 week trip there next February/March. My main interest is in temple/historic architecture and I will not be trekking any more than day trips this time. I plan to spend a couple weeks in Pokhara and around Jomsom and maybe 5 days to a week in the Terai area where little if anything was damaged. I just do not…

Hi,
I am spending 2 weeks in Nepal in November. I spent 3 months in Nepal several years ago and am doing it all over again because I loved it.

I have a very strict time line. I am wondering if I am guaranteed to be able to trek (with guide) the day after landing in Pokhara. I'd rather not book any treks online in advance but can't afford to potentially have to wait a day or so before a trek is available.

Thanks

Hello there :) namaste

I just heard that one must pay taxes when exiting the Kathmandu airport. Is that so? Or is this something already included in the ticket?

Otherwise, how much is it? Where can I pay it and in which currency?

Thanks for the help!
