Lonely Planet review
Along the ridge from the World Peace Pagoda, this secluded hilltop guesthouse is set in a stone-fronted slate-roofed cottage with inspiring views over the lake and mountains. Rooms are very inviting and all sorts of outdoorsy activities can be arranged by the friendly staff.
If you want peace and quiet, there's no point taking half measures - this gorgeous lodge is hidden in the forest, high above Pokhara and accessible only by foot, on the trail from the Fewa Resort. Surrounded by mountain-biking and hiking trails, the Raniban Retreat is probably the best choice in the valley for privacy and seclusion. Guests stay in a sensitively-designed stone building on a high bluff with heart-stopping views over Phewa Tal and the Annapurna Range. Rooms are warm and cosy and the mountain views are some of the best in Pokhara. Staff can arrange a huge range of activities, from fishing to hilltop treks and mountain biking on forest trails. There's also an excellent restaurant.

Description
We say that Raniban is the hotel with the best view in Pokhara, and we believe it. From our terraces, gardens and roof top, you can see three 8000 metre peaks, and many smaller ones, the paragliders over Sarankot, the calm waters of Fewa Tal, the World Peace Pagoda, and the far away city of Pokhara.
Whichever you choose, our rooms are cosy and clean. Seven rooms have a double width picture window looking directly out on the amazing view of Dhaulagiri, Annapurna and Fishtail. Three rooms have a slightly less direct view of the mountains.
Our panoramic restaurant serves food to match the view, with many ingredients grown in our own terraced gardens.
Raniban Retreat is for you if you want to rest after trekking to the high mountains, to recover from your travels, or hectic life in the city.
We offer a great mix of location, tranquillity and good food.
Raniban retreat's nearest neighbour is the World Peace Pagoda, which sits on a wooded ridge above the City of Pokhara and Lake Fewa.
We are a few minutes beyond, and above, the Pagoda as you travel on foot or by vehicle from Pokhara.
Apart from the Pagoda, our neighbours are the paragliders across the lake at Sarangkot, and three of the highest mountains in the world, spread out in a 200km vista.
The weather is our backdrop too, rolling up and down the valley with ever changing moods.
