Lonely Planet review for Yin Yang Restaurant
This is one of Thamel’s most highly regarded restaurants. It serves authentic Thai food cooked by a Thai chef with either garden or floor seating. It’s not cheap but the food is a definite cut above the imitation Thai food found elsewhere. The green curry is authentically spicy – the massaman curry (with onion, peanut and potato) is sweeter. There’s a good range of vegetable choices.

Bad food, bad service & over priced!!!
bauerjas does not recommend this,
I've been traveling around Asia for the last 7 years and eating in Yin Yang restaurant in Kathmandu was one of my worst food experiences ever!
The restaurant was beautiful & inviting and the stuff was nice at the beginning
My friend and I ordered a starter + 2 different dishes (for the variety).
The starter was under cooked & tasted really bad.
Our 2 DIFFERENT dishes came exactly the same!
when we mentioned it to the waiter he tried to convince us that we are wrong and only when we showed him the menu he said he would ask the cook (which he never did).
The whole attitude of the stuff after we complained (in a very nice and polite way) was rude & unwelcoming.
When we got the bill we found out that on top of the unworthy expensive meal + 10% service + 13% tax they charged us 95 rp for a bottle of mineral water that in any other restaurant in Thamel we would pay 30 rp!!!
We left the restaurant feeling really bad :(
I will defiantly NOT come back & I wouldn't recommend it especially when there are so many good restaurants around!!!!Not good for: service, service and quality, expensive prices

Visited Yin Yang a few times over the years. I have always been impressed by the excellent food, and the very good service. Thai food at its best!
