Lonely Planet review for Old Tashi Delek Rest

This place, a long-time favourite, feels like a trekking lodge that’s been transplanted from Everest into a Thamel time warp. Prices are decent, the Tibetan momos (especially the richosse momo soup) are authentic, and the spinach mushroom enchilada (Rs 140) is surprisingly good for Tibetan-Mexican food (Tib-Mex?). It’s down a corridor, slap bang in the centre of the Thamel action.

    Great atmosphere, excellent momos.

Down a long corridor you'll find an excellent restaurant. Both times I had the buffalo richosse, a momo soup that is wonderfully filling and tasty. Use the two bottled sauces to add more flavor and some heat. The Tibetan bread with honey is a nice way to end the meal. Several beers, including the hot millet beer, are available.

Best place to eat in Thamel!

We love this place and went back there four times! Apart from the momo soup was brillant, the tingmo (steam buns) with veg sauce was lovely as well!! The price was cheap, e.g. steamed veg momo 10 pcs only Rs95, which fill you up pretty well! The staff were very nice and the service was quick as well. We are very impressed by this place and recommended to some of our friends as well. The place is a little bit hard to find as it sits back a little bit from the main street, but the atmosphere inside was good as well.
