In the same vein as Bhanchha Ghar, but perhaps more ambitious, Bhojan Griha is located in a recently restored 150-year-old mansion in Dilli Bazaar, just east of the city centre. It’s worth eating here just to see the imaginative renovation of this beautiful old building, once the residence of the caste of royal priests. Most of the seating is traditional (ie on cushions on the floor), although these are actually legless chairs, which saves your back and knees. In an effort to reduce waste, plastic is not used in the restaurant and mineral water is bought in bulk and sold by the glass.

    Nepali traditions

    During my trip to Nepal my group decided to have dinner at Bhojan Griha, a restaurant in an old palace from the Rana reign.
    This was my first time having Napalese food and it has exceeded my expectations. It's somewhat reminiscent of Indian food with a few minor variations in spices.
    We ordered many courses including snacks, soup, many side dishes, dessert and tea. Everything simply delicious -the perfect amount of spice, tender meat, etc. I was also introduced to Raksi which is a traditional very strong Nepali wine.
    The service was great, maybe the best i've ever had at any restaurant. We had one main guy serving us. He was always smiling even though we made numerous requests about refills, extra orders, etc.
    That night I had the chance to see the famous Nepali cultural dance, representing various regions throughout Nepal. At the end all the group were delighted with the meal and everything going with it.
    I would recommand this restaurant to everyone visiting Nepal for its relaxing ambience, its professional service, its very good, well-presented food.
