Lonely Planet review for Fire & Ice Restaurant
Rumour has it that this was a favourite of Prince Dipendra and his girlfriend, before he massacred his entire family in 2001 (don’t worry, no one’s blaming the pizza). Regardless, it’s an excellent and informal Italian place, serving some of the best pizzas in Kathmandu, imported Italian soft-serve ice cream, seriously good Illy espresso and rousing opera – Italian, of course. It’s very popular and you’ll need a reservation in the high season.

Burnt Food! but Manager denies it!!! Amazing!
hal9001 does not recommend this,
Me and 2 Colleagues went to thsi restaurant and ordered 2 Pizza. After eating a sliec of one we felt it tasted funny. So we flipped the pizza and found that it was completely charcoal.. it was clearly burnt! So the manage comes and tells us without so much as asking what happened that if we want to change the pizza we shoudl not have eaten anything.
We tell her we are not interested in money. We just want an acknowldegemnt that the Pizza is burnt. And she looks at it and she says that the pizza is NOT BURNT! its how 'some customers' like it and she lieks it that way too! SO we flipped the other pizza and she says that pizza may be undercooked as it was not charred!
we tell her that we will NEVER again come to this restaurant, pay the full bill and leave.
The real issue the manager had was that we were asians, and, as less advanced beings we would never know what a burnt pizza was. she was Caucasian, she can speak faster english and so she knew better!Good for: racism, white people
Not good for: asians or blacks

The best pizza in Kathmandu
donnelrp recommends this,
Dodge the snake charmers, the kids huffing solvents, and the stark but apparently legitimate North Face store across the street, and enjoy some seriously good pizza that rivals the taste of a Roma pizzeria. The salad here is also a treat and everything is rinsed in iodine so no pesky Delhi belly will come around to bite you in the arse (literally).
Good for: food, Budget Travellers, Families
